Dear Parlier Family,
Over the past few weeks, our district has been hit with a wave of vandalism and student violence. These issues are occurring mostly in grades 7-12, but are starting to be an issue at the elementary level as well. The focal point has been the damage and destruction of student bathrooms. It has become apparent that the social media App (Tik Tok) is encouraging and promoting these acts of vandalism; and it is a problem in schools across our valley.
Because of the degree of vandalism occurring in schools in the region, it has become very difficult to get replacement parts for our bathrooms in a timely manner. This creates health and safety issues for our students if there are limited restrooms available due to the vandalism. We know the vast majority of our students are not involved with these acts- but the actions of a few do impact others around them.
Parlier Unified is asking for your support in assisting with the identification of those who are committing these disrespectful acts. This is not an innocent prank- these acts are crimes. The individuals responsible will be reported to the police and will be held accountable- including holding students and their families financially liable for the damages. We ask that you have proactive conversations with your students, emphasizing the severity of this vandalism and associated disciplinary actions.

Estimadas familias de Parlier,
Durante las últimas semanas, nuestro distrito se ha visto afectado por una ola de vandalismo y violencia estudiantil. Estos problemas ocurren principalmente en los grados 7-12, pero también están comenzando a ser un problema a nivel de primaria. El punto focal ha sido el daño y la destrucción de los baños de los estudiantes. Se ha hecho evidente que la aplicación de redes sociales (Tik Tok) está fomentando y promoviendo estos actos de vandalismo; y esto es un problema en las escuelas a través del valle.
Debido al grado de vandalismo que ocurre en las escuelas de la región, se ha vuelto muy difícil conseguir piezas de repuesto para nuestros baños de manera oportuna. Esto crea problemas de salud y seguridad para nuestros estudiantes, ya que solamente hay baños limitados disponibles debido al vandalismo. Sabemos que la gran mayoría de nuestros estudiantes no están involucrados en estos actos, pero las acciones de unos pocos, impactan a todos los que los rodean.
El Distrito Unificado de Parlier solicita su apoyo para ayudar con la identificación de aquellos que están cometiendo estos actos irrespetuosos. Esto no es una broma inocente, estos son delitos. Las personas culpables serán denunciadas a la policía, y ellos y sus familias se harán financieramente responsables por los daños. Les pedimos que tengan conversaciones proactivas con sus estudiantes, enfatizando la gravedad de este vandalismo y las acciones disciplinarias asociadas.
